The screens stop working. The speakers lose power. Things no longer shine. If the money suffices, we replace one device with another, but what is usual is that we extend the life of what we have as much as possible. One way or another, being connected builds a certain illusion of immateriality that goes from the mind to the cloud, and back again, until it erases the physical supports of communication, of information, and of subjectivity itself. Life becomes populated with mystifications and mists of a different kind from those that capital installed at its birth and expansion across the world. But things wear out and bodies grow tired, and everything will one day be reduced to its dead weight. In the works brought together here, Federico Tejeda (Lima, 1995) does not seek to give obsolete things a new life, but rather to bring to the surface the wear that inhabited them since their manufacture, the opacity that always lay in wait for their shine, the rust that one day no one will be able to reverse entirely.
